Unadulterated Truth About Black Mold: What You Don’t Know Is Destroying Your Home And Your Health

Filed under: Home Improvement Stuff — admin at 12:47 pm on Friday, November 30, 2007

With today’s new building procedures, our homes are more dangerous than ever before!

Scientific evidence now shows that the air inside our homes is 2-5 times more polluted than the air outside. And because we spend about 90 percent of our time inside, indoor air quality has become one of the top environmental health threats in the country.

With today’s new construction practices, buildings are no longer made to breathe. Pollutants trapped inside our home can cause chronic symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, skin rashes and itchy eyes. Some pollutants may have more serious effects, including asthma and cancer.

While this seemed like a good idea at the time, buildings are now made so air tight that the pollutants produced in the building accumulate and have no way to escape.

On of the major problems to arise in recent years is black mold, and it’s become a nationwide epidemic. It’s now responsible for destroying the lives of thousands of unsuspecting victims. And until we find out how to control this menace, the situation is only going to get worse.

Hair Loss Is a Cause for Concern

Filed under: Looking Good — admin at 12:36 pm on Friday, November 30, 2007

Losing hair is not only a cosmetic problem though it can’t be denied that it can bring down your self-confidence and self esteem to a worrying degree. Hair loss can be indicative of more serious problems as well. So, the sooner we do something about it the better it is.

Let’s begin by understanding what it is and how it is caused. Baldness or alopecia is a state of losing excessive hair. You must know that losing 50 to 100 hairs in a day is considered normal. It’s when you lose more than that you should sit up and take note of the problem. Baldness can be the result of heredity, certain medications or an underlying medical condition. Anyone— men, women and children — can experience hair loss. However, in most cases it is caused by today’s stressful lifestyle, long working hours, pollution, poor diet, combined with alcohol, drugs and smoking.

There’s not much you can do about factors like heredity, but you can correct the other factors and improve the quality of your hair. Remember, hair loss is not an irreversible process. Hair is a bi-product of blood. Therefore to treat the hair and scalp, you cannot obtain a good result by using topical lotions alone. You cannot feed the hair externally. If you could, the shampoo or conditioner would do wonders. It is logical therefore to take care of your scalp and the composition of your blood. The composition of your blood and state of your scalp determine the quality and growth of your hair.

Your overall diet affects your blood. You must supplement your diet with live enzymes to help absorb vitamins in the body. They are normally only found in raw fruit and vegetables and uncooked food. You should drink lots of water also. Never comb your wet hair and never use a thin comb. Also avoid hot air dryers; let the hair dry naturally.

Stimulating the scalp is another way to tackle the problem of hair loss. You should massage your scalp with a tangy lotion to increase the blood flow around the hair follicles. Nourishments reaching the hair follicles will stimulate the hair to grow much fuller, shinier and healthier.

If you are losing large amounts of hair, see a physician. Hair loss may be caused by some health conditions such as high cholesterol levels. Often the hair grows back when the cause is corrected

If hair loss occurs at an age when you can afford to let it be, you should let your hair loss run its course untreated and unhidden. However, if it happens when you’re still too young to go around with a baldhead you may either cover it up with hairstyles, makeup, hats or scarves or choose one of the medications and surgical procedures that are available to treat hair loss. But, before pursuing any of these treatment options, talk to your doctor about the cause and best possible treatment for your hair loss.

Visco Memory Foam Mattress Guide

Filed under: Plugging Things — admin at 9:43 am on Friday, November 30, 2007

A visco memory foam mattress gets it’s name from the visco-elastic material developed for NASA in the early 1970’s in conjunction with the space program.

The astronauts in the space program were facing incredible g-forces, at take-off and re-entry, and the materials that were available, at that time, weren’t sufficient to cushion their bodies.

Of course, they weren’t looking for a memory foam mattress, they needed seating that was more like a big, overstuffed recliner.

Visco memory foam was developed from foam that had some unique characteristics, such as being open celled and able to return to their original shape and resiliency after being compressed.

You may have seen the commercial with the 30 ton steam roller smashing a mattress flat and how it slowly returns to it’s exact original shape…or maybe you’re more familiar with the picture of a hand above a mattress with the hand print still showing on it.

Both illustrations are meant to show you the slow recovery of visco memory foam.

Because the billions of cells, in a visco memory foam mattress, are open, air can slowly escape from them and pass into other cells that are adjacent.

As you lie on a visco memory foam mattress, it “melts away” from you until your body is completely and evenly supported over it’s entire surface.

That’s what has been termed by some as feeling like you’re floating in space. (Even though I love my mattress, I’ve never felt like that was a good explanation of how it feels)

A visco memory foam mattress is temperature sensitive, so it reacts to your body temperature by softening where your body is in contact with the mattress.

If you have an injury, with a fever, the mattress is softer under that place on your body.

In the beginning developments of this material, it was too expensive to be used for residential consumer mattresses and pillows.

Over time, the manufacturing costs have been whittled to a point that a good memory foam mattress is as reasonably priced as a good innerspring mattress and there is no comparison in the comfort of the two.

Memory foam is now being combined with other materials to meet the needs of the vast multitude of consumers who are looking for:

a better night’s sleep

relief from back, neck or leg pain

relief from a partner’s restless movement

better circulation

a compromise to a softer feel for one person while maintaining the support the other person is used to from a firm mattress

Schedule some time to do some memory foam mattress pricing comparisons and you’ll see that you can, affordably, be sleeping on a mattress that is great for your body, health and your budget.

Learn All About Proper Projector Mount

Filed under: Product Info — admin at 9:31 am on Friday, November 30, 2007

After purchasing a home theater projector, unless it is a portable projector and a portable screen, it is necessary to mount the projector and screen so that the picture can be properly transposed onto the theater projector screen.

Hopefully, by this point in time, the relevant factors for setting up a home theater system have been well planned but that is not always the case.

Maybe the home theater was received as a gift, or maybe a spouse or friend purchased the projector without considering how it was going to be used.

The projector mounts and the theater projector setup for both the screen and the projector unit are as important as any factor in order to get the optimal performance quality from a home theater projection system.

Screen Mount

Many screens for home theater systems are portable, meaning they can be easily stored away when they are not in use. Some of the projector screens will have to be mounted to either a wall mount, a floor mount or in some cases, to a ceiling mount.

What factors should be considered when deciding where to mount the projection screen?

Like any home furnishing, the home theater projector screen is part of the interior design or décor of the home, or at least of one particular room. If there are children in the home, or perhaps pets, it may be advisable install the projector screen mounts on the ceiling. This can often be done quickly and easily as there is usually no wiring needed for the screen. The projector mount has different needs which must be considered before mounting.

The home theater projector must be setup at a certain distance to get the best quality from a home theater system, whether at the minimum distance, the maximum distance or somewhere in between. Keeping the distance constant will insure better consistency and better quality experiences from the home theater projection unit.

The Projector Unit

Mounting options for a home projector vary, but the most common types are wall mounts, ceiling mounts and recessed mounts.

The wall mount is perhaps the most common mount used for the screen and projector. It is important to consider the wiring needs when deciding which mount to use. For a wall mount, wires are frequently exposed along the wall. They can sometimes be hidden or fished through the wall to be more aesthetically appealing.

The ceiling mount is also very popular for the home theater projector. The two major factors to be considered for a ceiling mount are the clearance from the home theater projection unit as well as the swivel capabilities of the ceiling mount itself. If there is not sufficient clearance to mount the projector under the ceiling mount while allowing it to be moved, it will be difficult to properly lineup and adjust your home theater system. Wiring can also be a factor here, but usually there is enough room in the ceiling to allow for easy access to wire the unit.

If it can be accomplished, the recessed mount is a favorite among many home theater owners. The recessed mount is a recession (Like a shelf) built into an existing wall. This alleviates unsightly wires and offers perhaps the best protection for your home theater projector.

Fiction Tip: Do You Really Have a Story?

Filed under: Publishing — admin at 8:35 am on Friday, November 30, 2007

All writers get rejection slips. It’s just part of writing if you submit your work to publishers. But if you’ve been seriously writing fiction for quite a while, yet ALL you’ve received for your work are rejections, then take a closer look at one of your short stories. In fact, do you really have a story - or do you have what editors call “an incident”?

A story has a protagonist who has a big problem to solve. As the plot
thickens, this character struggles and struggles to solve the problem. As
he does, he encounters obstacles at every turn until, finally, he is able to
solve (or at least resolve) the problem. In doing so, this character
changes or grows somehow, so he is no longer the same person he
was at the start of the story. He may be a little wiser now, or a bit more
careful, or maybe he just has a better understanding of what he wanted
in the first place.

An incident is simply a series of actions and occurrences in a character’s
life. But these things don’t change the character. By the end of the final
page, he is exactly the same person he was on page one.

Does your fiction contain all of these story elements? If not, chances are
you have written an incident and not a full-fledged story, and that just
may be why your work keeps getting rejected.

Give your main character a big problem to solve right at the start. The
problem could be something he wants, or somewhere he must go, or
someone he must find. As he tries to solve his problem, give him plenty
of obstacles to make things get harder and harder for him before he is
able to solve the problem.

Finally, before you mail your manuscript off to an editor, ask yourself this
question, “How has my main character changed or grown as a result of
struggling to solve his problem?” If you can easily answer this question,
and your manuscript is well-written, then you probably have a great
story. And it should be only a matter of time before you receive your first
acceptance letter.

ADHD And the Morning Routine

Filed under: Kids & Parents — admin at 8:31 am on Friday, November 30, 2007

Saying my ADHD son doesn’t wake up well would be like saying Old Faithful is a pretty big geyser. This child, age 10 and with severe ADHD, wakes up like a rock.

Morning has always been a difficult time for us, even before the ADHD diagnosis. He whines. He grumbles. He shrieks. He goes back to bed. It’s like having two of me in the house!

I have come up with a morning routine that takes into account his ADHD and the fact that he’s not only tired and grumpy but hasn’t had his ADHD medication yet. This routine might not work for everyone, but maybe you can use it as a starting point for a routine with your ADHD child. The main thing, I think, is to have a routine.

Before I wake my ADHD son, I start the shower and put his clothes on the bed where they’re easy to find. I wake the ADHD monster, usher him into the bathroom, and wait.

If I don’t hear him get in the shower after a couple of minutes, I go in and prod him. I know his ADHD makes him distractible and he’s more than half-asleep. After a few minutes of shower time I urge him to finish up, then I tell him when time’s up.

Even with ADHD, my son does a pretty good job of taking his own shower most of the time. Sometimes he has shampoo in his hair when he gets out, but usually he’s clean.

Because of his ADHD, he doesn’t sleep well, or enough. He catches up on his sleep on the weekends. So during the week I let him put his clothes on and get back in bed for 15-20 minutes before he brushes his teeth, takes his ADHD medication, and puts on his shoes and socks.

While Jack’s back in bed catching up on ADHD-deprived sleep, I get his sister in and out of the shower and dressed.

When it’s time to brush teeth and take ADHD medicine, I wake Jack again, usher him back into the bathroom, and lay out his medicine and toothbrush. I stand there as much to make sure he brushes his teeth (he forgets) as to make sure he takes his ADHD meds. Then he puts on shoes and socks and gets ready for the bus.

When I make Jack’s lunch, I fix him a “snack baggie” of dry cereal, usually frosted shredded wheat. I put this in the top of his lunch bag and he eats it on the bus. This makes up for the fact that my ADHD son can’t wake up enough for breakfast.

Again, this routine may not work for everyone with an ADHD child. But the point is to have a routine. It’s what helps my son get up and get going every morning, in spite of his ADHD.

Who Else Wants to Use a Forex Demo Account?

Filed under: Finance Information — admin at 10:21 pm on Thursday, November 29, 2007

Have you ever wondered how important it is to practice? When trading the Forex market is a very wise idea to use a Forex demo account. The word “demo” means practice. It also means that you can use someone else’s money to see if the Forex works for you.

I have been trading, the Forex for about a year. I used a demo account before I began to use a live trading account and real money. Using a demo account stops you from worrying about money and let’s you concentrate on learning strategies, technical trading, fundamental trading and seeing how the world news affects the market.

A demo account will provide you with live quotes, live charts, and streaming news. These tools are essential to your Forex trading. You can test and evaluate trading strategies under real market conditions with no risks. A good Forex broker will provide you with live support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year free of charge.

And yes, you do need a broker to trade the Forex. You can set up a free practice trading account through a Forex broker with no money involved, and it takes about three or four minutes. The broker will provide you with about $50,000 in fake money that you can use in your demo account to practice trading the Forex market. The beauty of this is that you can lose all the money in your account and then open a new account and start over. A demo account is usually good for 30 days. After your account expires, you can set up another one. You can use demo accounts for as long as you want.

After using a practice account, you can go to live trading for as little as $300. This is called a mini trading account. A mini trading account is designed for those who are new to the Forex market. A mini account lets you trade in smaller contract sizes, so you have less risk. If you open a live mini account a good broker will also let you have a demo account at the same time. This allows you to test your strategies.

One of the great things about trading the Forex market is that the brokers do not charge commissions. You probably have seen advertisements for stock market brokers that say they have low commissions (may be $7 a trade). What they don’t tell you is that the commission they charge is only to get into the trade. You have to pay again to get out of the trade. So the trade would cost you, $14. With a Forex broker, you are not charged anything to get in or out of a trade. You can get in and out of trades as many times as you wish at no charge.

I advocate using a practice account until you are very comfortable with trading the forex market. Although I still consider myself a “newbie” when it comes to trading, I know, the practice account helps me a great deal.

I found a good Forex course that taught me everything I needed to know as a beginner and then moved me on to a more advanced level. If you’re interested in the course that I took (and learned a great deal from) you can access that information below. It worked for me; I know it can work for you!

eBay: A virtual land of opportunity

Filed under: Market — admin at 9:04 pm on Thursday, November 29, 2007

When you first take a quick glance, the ebay opportunities
website looks like this big, complicated, and confusing animal
that probably takes a seasoned Internet veteran to master. But
that couldn’t be further from the truth. Ebay opportunities
exist for all skill levels.

Of course ebay is always growing and constantly improving but
regardless of these endless changes, the basics can always be
found and there will always be the same old ebay opportunities
for you to take advantage of as both a seller and a buyer. So
why do so many people look for ebay opportunities at this
website? The answer is simple; because there are more computers
sold on ebay than anywhere else. There are more cars sold on
ebay than anywhere else. There are more toys sold on ebay than
anywhere else. Shall I go on? The list of ebay opportunities
goes on and on into any market that you can think of.

Deciding on which of the ebay opportunities to take advantage of
is probably the hardest step in the process. Depending on
whether you are buying or selling, there are plenty of ebay
opportunities available to you.

Lets take ‘automotive’ for example. You might think that no such
ebay opportunities exist for such a commonly person-to-person
transaction - wrong! In fact, there is an entire ebay category
dedicated to automobiles and auto parts. Both new and used cars
are hot ebay opportunities now more than ever before.

We hope that this brief description of what awaits you at ebay
has you excited to look for great deals or great sales to take
advantage of.

Identity Theft – Early Detection Is Key

Filed under: Net Tips + More — admin at 7:46 pm on Wednesday, November 28, 2007

Protecting yourself from Identity Theft (ID Theft) is an important matter. ID Theft is defined by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) as, “when someone uses your name, address, Social Security number, bank or credit card account number, or other identifying information without your knowledge to commit fraud or other crimes.”

In a summary report dated September of 2003, the FTC reported that “almost 10 million Americans have discovered that they were the victim of some form of ID Theft within the last year.” Further, the FTC estimates that the “total cost of this crime approaches $50 billion per year.” (The report can be viewed and printed at http://www.ftc.gov/os/2003/09/synovatereport.pdf.)

Though preventing ID Theft is ideal, also important is your ability to quickly determine when your identity is being used without your knowledge. Early detection is essential in preventing undue loss, as well as protecting your credit from long-term damage. One means of finding out if you have been a victim of ID Theft is through the use of a credit report.

A credit report is a list of all credit cards, debts, accounts, and other information associated with your social security number. That is, by going to the website of one of the three main credit reporting agencies and running a credit report, you will be able to see all the financial information linked to your social security number. Most importantly, you may be able to identify an error or fraudulent activity.

When viewing your credit report online, information will be given in seven sections: personal information, account information, inquiries, collections, public records, consumer statement, and dispute file information. One of your main objectives should be to verify all accounts and information as being valid. Carefully read the entire credit report looking for errors or anything unfamiliar. If you should see something out of the ordinary or wrong, contact the credit reporting agency immediately- you may be a victim of ID Theft.

Equifax, one of the three major credit reporting agencies, says you should, “Check your credit report regularly. Checking your credit report can help you catch mistakes and fraud before they wreak havoc on your personal finances. Make sure your report is accurate and includes only those activities you’ve authorized. It’s also a good idea to review your credit report from each of the three major credit reporting agencies every year — it’s possible that information is reported to one but not the others.”

To that end, Equifax has developed a great tool for running your credit report. It is called the “3-in-1 Credit Report”. You can sign-up with Equifax and view your information with all three major credit reporting agencies at one time (this can also be done through the other two credit reporting agencies- TransUnion and Expirion). Currently, this detailed report costs around $30 on the Equifax website (www.equifax.com) and is well worth it. Running your credit report is an important first step in prevention and early detection of ID Theft.

For tips on how to further protect yourself from ID Theft, or if you believe your identity has been stolen, please visit the FTC website (http://www.consumer.gov/idtheft/).
