In Sanskrit Ashta means eight and Anga means limbs so it can be
termed as the eight limb path and is based on Yoga Philosophy of
Patanjali. As history of yoga is very rich it helps people in
all its manner and this is one of its form which is also known

6. Dharana: Concentration, something which would help you to
concentrate without any level of distraction.

7. Dhyana: Meditation and concentration on things which are your
main objective but also being done on a wider perspective.

8. Samadhi: Attainment a state of joy and bliss which is based
on your skills of dhyana and realizing the purity of your life
and the importance in life as whole. It can also be stated as
enlightenment.

In the most rewarding new industries, there is often a convergence of factors that make them lucrative and sustainable. Altadis, USA has consistently been a prime target for counterfeiters with the reputation of its ubiquitous cigar lines. Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta, and H. Upmann are all among the most notoriously spoofed cigar lines in the United States, and Altadis is beginning a major crackdown.

On March 25th, 2005, Altadis, USA was awarded $3.5 million in counterfeiting and trademark infringement against two Florida corporations. The corporations have now been disbanded. In addition to the damages, the counterfeiters were ordered to recall their entire product line including promotional and packaging material and deliver it to Altadis for destruction. The participants in the two corporations are also permanently enjoined from employing graphics that are confusingly similar to trademarks within the Altadis cigar line.

The cigar boom of the late 1990’s brought with it two major problems - the first was the proliferation of sub-par cigar lines and the second was the increased circulation of counterfeit cigars. Sub-par cigars have, for the most part, been filtered-out with the rapid decline in consumption that occurred between 1997 and 2001. Companies that did not have a strong foundation in quality were forced out of business. Now, it looks like, major corporations are finally stepping up to weed-out the proliferation of counterfeit cigars.

In the 2005 United States cigar market, you would be hard-pressed to find someone who would disagree with the fact that there are more higher-quality handmade cigars available at better prices than ever before. To ultimately do serious damage to the counterfeit cigar industry, it will take the efforts of Altadis redoubled and spread all over the globe. But now that the counterfeiters are being taken to task, maybe we can all have the confidence that we get what we pay for.

For me these people are quite sad. I have a friend who is similar to the people above, he is always thinking of money, always talking about money. When he goes out on the Saturday evening, he always takes with him a piece of paper with the numbers on and a little pen. At around nine o’clock he phones his girlfriend and she tells him what the numbers are for that particular night. He then spends around twenty minutes checking the numbers, and then re-checking to see if he has any winning lines.

He then returns from the toilet area and is asked by other members of the group about how much he has won/lost. He has yet to have any major win to this point, this does not deter him however and for the next hour, he will start a debate, asking different people how they would spend their winnings, if they ever won the lottery.

For me the two most important things in life are health and happiness. These are two things which money can not buy. A number of years ago, my father became very ill. He had to spend around five months in hospital and he was only fifty seven. I feared the worst, even though I was trying my hardest to think and stay positive. I remember thinking, if I could give those doctors everything I own in the world, it still would not help him.

Happiness is the same, at times I have had lots of cash in my back pocket, however have been quite depressed. At other times I have had next to no money and have been extremely happy.

Propaganda, rhetoric and repetition

and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of
catapult the propaganda.” George Bush, “President Participates
in Social Security Conversation in New York,” May 24, 2005

We’re all well acquainted with the ideas of propaganda,
repetition and the Big Lie as outlined by Josef Geobells, the
Nazi Minister of Propaganda: basically any lie, repeated often
enough, will be believed. A corollary is that you may has well
make it a big lie.

Yesterday I read Tom Engelhardt’s article The President, Cindy
Sheehan, and How Words Die on AntiWar (originally on Tom
Dispatch as A Worldview Repeated Once Too Often?): “Sometimes,
just that extra bit of repetition under less than perfect
circumstances, and words that once struck fear or offered hope,
that once explained well enough for most the nature of the world
they faced, suddenly sound hollow. They begin to sound… well,
repetitious, and so, false. Your message, which worked like a
dream for so long, goes off-message, and then what do you do?

This is, I suspect, exactly what growing numbers of Americans
are experiencing in relation to our President. It’s a mysterious
process really - like leaving a dream world or perhaps
deprogramming from a cult. Once you step outside the bubble,
statements that only yesterday seemed heartfelt or powerful or
fearful or resolute truths suddenly look like themselves,
threadbare and impoverished. In due course, because the
repetitious worldview in the president’s speeches is clearly a
believed one (for him, if not all of his advisers) and because
it increasingly reads like a bad movie script for a fictional
planet, he himself is likely to look no less threadbare and
impoverished, no less - to use a word not often associated with
him - pathetic and out of touch with reality to some of those
who not so long ago supported him or his policies.”

This took me back to my literary criticism studies and reminded
me of some of the other rhetorical uses of repetition.

In essence: any act of repetition changes the context of a
statement, and renders it susceptible to defamiliarisation - the
statement will appear different due to the change of context.
This is a common artistic tool - from Marcel Duchamp’s elevated
readymade ‘Fountain’ (a urinal signed R. Mutt 1917) through
irony to the basest kind of sarcasm or satire.

In the early twentieth century the Russian formalists were
particularly fond of this device; in the late twentieth century
structuralism and deconstruction (and their many imitators and
followers) appropriated it.

I think what Tom Engelhardt’s article points to is that the Bush
rhetoric, based as it is on the propaganda of the repeated lie,
has fallen victim to these other possibilities of repetition.

Storage and warehousing can be a dangerous business if important safety rules are not adhered to. A recent serious injury to an employee of a warehousing company has prompted the Health and Safety Executive to remind companies of the necessity of following its rules.

The recent accident that resulted in the victim fracturing his pelvis and crushing his vertebra after a fall, demonstrates the importance of supervision and planning heights properly. The accident occurred outside normal working hours at the storage and warehousing company based in the UK.

According to the Health and Safety Executive:

‘It highlights the need for companies to make sure safety procedures are in place whenever their employees are at work, not just during normal hours.

It continued to say that companies in this sector should always conduct a detailed risk assessment before starting work. They should also always ensure that there is a safe way for employees to move around and that they should be given any necessary training. Tower scaffolds, for instance, can provide an excellent means of access to different parts of the warehouse.

The Health and Safety Executive severely criticised the storage and warehousing plant at which the recent accident took place. It claimed that it would have been avoided if a supervisor had been on site. The supervisor would have been able to see that the boards on which the employee had been standing in the warehouse were unstable and therefore unsafe.

As a result the company was fined £20,000 for each breach of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974. In addition to this it was ordered to pay court costs along with £5000 to the victim.

Falls are the most common cause of fatal accidents in storage and warehousing companies. They make up around 13% of all injuries that occur on site. However, the good news is that many of these accidents can be avoided if companies adhere to health and safety guidelines.
