Fishing for carp is a rather rewarding activity since these fish are very intelligent and wary of taking the bait. Nonetheless, with some trickery, you can entice carp and dupe them into being hooked. Here are just some pointers to assist you when carp fishing:-

  • Use boilies that are fishmeal-based in the finer weather (summer and autumn), and try your luck with 50/50 combinations or bird food types of bait in the winter and spring seasons
  • Experiment by adding chillies to some particle baits. The carp fish seem to enjoy that fiery “kick” from those spices. Approximately, mix 2 tablespoons to 5 litres of particles.
  • Apply different particles or sizes of pellets in a spod mix. This helps confuse the carp, and gives you the option to use several sizes of bait.
  • Include high sources of vitamin C into the bait. Stir your method with fruit juice like orange juice rather than water from the lake. You can also try soaking fresh boilies in orange juice so as to to create that distinct flavour.
  • Lastly, make sure you have the right fishing gear with you. Research what you should bring online. You can find all kinds of things online, such as muddy water bobbins - and ensure you enjoy the time you spend by the river!
