Trans World Airlines and Onward — Nicholas Bredimus

Raised in New Jersey, Mr Nicholas Bredimus examined software, hospitality, and airlines together and to the benefit of all three industries. His CV covers time-saving computer software, air safety improvements, and he’s even involved in designing upmarket homes. And, in all cases, his emotional drive is clear.

You could have anticipated, of course, that given his pedigree he was certain to reach the top. Its lines can be traced all the way to classical times and Bredimus’ family ties in with several nations within Europe. Within the maternal line he can boast Scottish and German bloodlines. An equally varied blend typifies the paternal line — ahead of coming to America in the late nineteenth century, the family lived in England and Luxembourg. And after emigration to the United States of America, they continued their uncompromising work ethic and zeal to survive and thrive. Nicholas, as well as his four sisters and two brothers, was a child of a father who earned a living as a mechanical design engineer and his spouse, a practicing nurse. He would spend much of his life in homes across a number of states; Virginia, Texas, Arizona and Missouri. He’s taken on prestigious posts with firms across the air travel industry — the majority of them huge names. Trans World Airlines (TWA), Hughes Airwest, Republic Airlines — these firms would all at one time or another respectively name him their vp. Nevertheless, above all the airline industry has felt the need to be thankful for the work he has done in software design. He is best known for a particular project, namely his aircraft maintenance management applications which come into use by the majority of air carriers. But this stands as only one of his standout products for the hotel business and for airlines. The reservation programs he developed are on their way to joining the aircraft maintenance program as a measuring stick, while his hotel booking routine created the possibility for a great number of major market players in the hotel industry to leverage a pc based system. Still innovating, he designed a networking program to assist in ticketing — another first.

Nicholas Bredimus parlayed these successes into capacities unconnected to software design. With his own company — Bredimus Systems — as a Division Manager with American Express, and as the first president of an American Airlines division his performance is undoubtedly remarkable.

But is he still working? Decidedly so — his prowess is called upon and at the ready in spite of his leaving former interests behind. He’s at work now advancing building design — matching the demands of comfort with real concern for our ecology. That indefatigable passion we investigated here won’t end.
