Increase Web Site Traffic With Articles

Filed under: Life Of Traffic — admin at 6:17 am on Friday, May 23, 2008

To increase web-site traffic is a time consuming JOB, unless you think smart and use an article directory or multiple article directories.

Only Two Methods Needed To Increase Web-Site Traffic

There are several different ways to increase web-site traffic, but only one is the best and this article will explain in full detail how to accomplish this. First and foremost, forget everything you’ve ever read on increasing web-site traffic. Only the best and smartest concepts will be learned from this article. Only relevant backlinks and relevant reciprocal links are needed. Why are these the only two concepts you should focus on to increase targeted web-site traffic. These two methods will kill four birds with one stone, search engine rankings, link popularity, pagerank(PR), and targeted web-site traffic. There is no reason for me to explain why these increase your targeted traffic, but only how to utilize them.

Relevant Backlinks Increase Web-Site Traffic

Backlinks are the heart of search engine rankings and can dramatically increase web-site traffic alone. Why? Backlinks carry more importance then any other form of links, because the search engine feels, that if there is a backlink or one-way link to your site from another without linking to them, that your site is more important. 50 Backlinks are more important than 500 reciprocal links. Search engines are aware that webmasters trade links, so to have multiple backlinks from highly important sites tells the search engine, this site is important regarding this particular niche, this is why your backlinks must be relevant. How do I acquire high pr backlinks with out paying hundreds of dollars. Articles! An Article Directory can be your savior in your backlink crisis. Almost all article directories will have at least a PR4 ranking. Why? Unique content and all the article pages providing a backlink to the article directory.

An Article Directory Can Increase Relevant Backlinks

You are going to exploit the article system by creating lots of article pages with a one-way or backlink to your site or several sites if you choose. Most article directories will allow you to insert three links in the resource box of an article submission form. By writing artices and submitting to a directory or directories, you will gain three backlinks for every article published. One article can expand. I had to show you the power of articles, so I published one 6 days prior to this one, “The Full Adsense Formula.” Google search it within the quotations. Now I only submitted it to 150 article directories, and in 6 days I have twice as many backlinks from this published article. Why are there twice as many links as article directories I submitted to? An article directory is not just for publishing articles, but also for webmasters with a high demand for content. These webmasters can reprint or publish your article, with your permission of course, on their site as long as they keep the article intact, including the backlinks to your sites. Now, for a webmaster to want to reprint your article it must be relevant to their site. Relevant Backlinks! An article I wrote last year now has been published on 8,000 pages. A lot of relevant backlinks for thirty minutes of typing. This will increase your PR within weeks and you will see the increase in web-site traffic in days. This article exploit is used more for the search engines rankings and backlinks, not long term web-site traffic. The reason for this is because the NEW article itself will only generate traffic for a month or so.

Articles Increasse Search Engine Rankings

Now these articles in the directories will be indexed in the search engines on their own page, with your link at the end. So 5,000 pages with your article increases your chances of a search engine user locating it, reading it, and visiting your site afterwards. Why? They want more info or have come to the conclusion that you know what you are talking about, if it is a very informative article. While these pages move up in the SERP’s(Search Engine Results Page) over time the page they are linked to will move up also. For Search Engine purposes, the backlink that follows the article shou;d not have the article on it. Why? Search engines like unique content and the visitor doesn’t want to read the same article over. They want more relevant info that wasn’t included in the article.

Use Articles To Gain Reciprocal Links

Write an article on reciprocal links and inform your readers that you will be exchanging links, leave your email address and the topics of your pages and you won’t have to spend enourmous amounts of time looking for links to increase your web-site traffic. They’ll email you. Once the pages are in the search engines. I have used these methods many times to give new domains at least a (PR5)PageRank of 5 in 30 days time. I have a new article directory myself, I will try to obtain a PR8 in no time.

How to Identify Bad Link Exchange Transactions

Filed under: Life Of Traffic — admin at 9:09 am on Sunday, December 30, 2007

Now that more emphasis (to get better ranking in SERPs) is put on the quality of links rather than the quantity, I will try, in this article, to identify the signs that may be precursors of bad link exchange transactions.

  1. Quality of content

I try to make sure that my links come from pages with original content that are not sourced from an affiliate program or duplicated hundreds of times on the Internet. I want links from websites that someone seemingly to have taken time and effort to put together. In addition, it is steer clear of ecommerce sites that is only recently launched and heavily SEOed.

  2. The links page

Check what the links pages are like. Definitely avoid links pages that have over 50 links, or use dynamic URLs, or are not ind exed by search engines.

  3. The links page should be too far from the home page

Search engine bots are unlikely to go more than three levels deep on any website. So links buried deeper may not be found. When looking for quality links look for websites that provide links as close to the home page as possible. Even a massive site like BBC News has a rule that every piece of content must be available within three clicks of the News home page.

  4. The topic

Unless the links page of the site receives a large amount of traffic or that they have a high PageRank, stick to sites about the same topic as your own. If your site is about widgets, I usually look for sites that are about widgets, widgeting, or anything widget-users would find useful.

  5. The request email

When I receive link request emails, anything that

    • Has a generic subject line (i.e. attn webmaster, link request, We linked to your site! etc)
    • Makes ludicrous claims (ie.e we believe …)
    • Doesn’t use personal names (i.e. Dear Site Owner — you want a link from me - find out my name!)
    • Resembles an automated form email from bots
    • Contains excessive grammar/spelling mistakes
    • Are long and tells me how good links are for me etc etc etc.

    goes to the trash.

  6. Quality of website

I look for glaring typos, English mistakes, excessive fla shy banners, broken images, or the ever infamous animated Under Construction gifs.

  7. Format of link

I usually look at the source code of the links page to make sure that I will be receiving honest inbound backlinks. Does the site use rel=nofollow or external redirects for their outbound links? If so, they won’t benefit you at all (SEO-wise) unless the link gets many human clickthroughs.

  8. Are they willing to put the link in a “real” page of their site?
If they are willing to place your link on a content page, then they are definitely my valued link partner.
  9. If I see their phone number in the request email…

Then I’d classify them as a valueable link partner. The same goes to your request emails: always include your name and phone number in order to be trusted.

That’s it for me. As you can see, I’ve only mentioned PageRank once. I believe that as long as a site has quality, it has a good potential (PageRank or otherwise) and is worthy to trade link with. Finally, although these are good criterias to stick to in order to identify good link partners when receiving requests, don’t forget to see if you are adhering to these when you are the one sending requests!

Traffic Exchange Advertising-3 Ways to Make This an Effective Advertising Option

Filed under: Life Of Traffic — admin at 4:31 pm on Monday, December 3, 2007

Many people will tell you that traffic exchanges are not effective. For some this may be true depending on the service or product you offer. I, however, have had several customers that found my services through my advertising on traffic exchanges. So I am gonna tell you the 3 ways to make this an effective advertising option for you.

First: You need to be sure your home page is effective at explaining what service or product you are offering. Traffic exchanges have a timer so the person viewing your site has the option to leave within a matter of seconds. So your main goal is to give them a reason to stay!!

Second: Only choose traffic exchanges that offer manual surfing. Most people do not even watch the window when an autosurf is running. If it is a manual surf exchange they have to physically watch the pages in order to go to the next site. This gives you the best opportunity for them to actually see your site and be drawn in by your content.

Third: Be prepared to work. In order to earn credits for people to view your site, you have to view other people’s sites. That is why it is called a “Traffic Exchange”. The more you view other sites, the more your site is viewed.

With these 3 steps you can use traffic exchanges as an effective advertising strategy. It takes planning and work to get results, but doesn’t every advertising plan? I urge everyone new to advertising to do alot of research to find the plan that is best for you and your business.

Inter-Linking Articles Strategy – What You Need to Know

Filed under: Life Of Traffic — admin at 6:48 pm on Sunday, November 4, 2007

Webmasters have so much information available to them on the Internet about how to increase traffic to their web sites, but how do you keep visitors on the site when they get there? If you happen to use the articles format in order to provide interesting content for your readers, have you considered what they do when they finish reading one of your articles?

Actions the reader will take, will include: navigating to another part of the web site (if you are lucky and have a well designed site); typing another web site address into their browser; and, closing down their browser and doing something else – perhaps resuming their work after a lunch break. If you are a webmaster, the first of these would obviously be your preferred outcome. But a reader who randomly navigates through your pages at speed, is not the ideal. How do you not only keep a reader on your site, but also keep them engaged with your articles and possibly the products you are offering, while they finish the second half of their lunchtime sandwich?

The answer is very simple really, but many webmasters do not use the strategy I am about to outline, when they place articles on their sites – the inter-linking strategy. What is it? It is simply the practice of linking one article on your web site to another related article and clearly signaling the link to your reader. People who write articles in different steps or parts use it already e.g. at the end of “Tips on How to Save Money – Part 1” they will have a link to “Tips on How to Save Money – Part 2”. But there is no reason why we should not all be taking advantage of this simple but very effective strategy.

For example, you may have written a general article about dental floss (ok so you have a really tough job on your hands of keeping your reader onboard!). In order to ensure that your reader does not leave your site after reading the article, you could include at the end of it a once sentence paragraph that says “If you have ever wondered how they get the mint flavour into dental floss, click here for an article which explains all”. This is a much more powerful strategy than just having a long list of “other related articles” at the bottom of the page, which the reader may not even be able to see because they have not scrolled down far enough. Another benefit of this strategy is that with some clever and imaginative wording in that last one sentence paragraph, you can steer your reader towards a particular page, again possibly with information about a product that you wish to sell. As with all strategies, there is lots of room for experimentation to see what works best. As well as playing with words to come up with a sentence that will ignite your reader’s interest, you can try different formats for the text itself. For example, if the last paragraph looks just like the rest of the article, it will almost certainly be read and taken in by the reader.

Implementing this inter-linking strategy may take a little more time and thought, if you have previously only carpet-bombed your site with as many articles as possible. However, it is definitely another valuable tool for the webmaster’s toolbox, or weapon for his armory, depending on how fanatical you are about keeping visitors on your site as long as possible!

Nine tips You Can Use to Attract Customers to Your Website

Filed under: Life Of Traffic — admin at 3:32 am on Saturday, November 3, 2007

Is your site designed to appeal to your ego – or is it designed to attract customers and make it easy for them to BUY?

If you have an existing site, or if you are just getting your business onto the web, here are some simple steps you should take to ensure you have a successful e-Commerce website.

Tip 1:.

Get your content right. When a prospective customer goes to your website they are expecting to find expert information and useful content that will help them make a buying decision.

Think of it this way, if you ring up a business or walk into a shop to buy something, you expect the salesperson to know what they are talking about and to give you helpful information.

If the salesperson doesn’t know their product and can’t give you helpful advice, you are probably going to walk out and check the competition.

Did you know 80% of people surveyed use the web for comparative shopping, or to gather information that will help them make a buying decision. They do this prior to ordering online or visiting a bricks and mortar shop.

If your site doesn’t give them the information they need they go to your competitor’s website - its as simple as that.

When you design your site forget the hype, instead be information generous.

With an editable website you can upload new information and create informative web pages without any programming knowledge. This is extremely important if you want to get your site into the top listing on the major search engines, and it’s even more important if you want to be seen as an expert in your field.

But remember, when writing content use short sentences and short paragraphs to keep your content scannable. Most web users scan copy – they don’t read it.

Tip 2:

Keep your website simple and keep the ratio of text to HTML content high by staying away from too much Flash, DOM, Java, and JavaScript.

Moving icons, flying pigs, ding-dongs, and music drive most people crazy when they are browsing your website. It drives search engines away too because the robots ignore content utilising the above technology.

Flashy sites are great for some owner’s ego, but you won’t be able to count the sales lost because you drove your customers away.

The choice is yours – big head or more sales! Simple sites attract business; complicated, flash filled sites could drive business to your competitors.

Tip 3:

Make sure your site loads quickly – within 3-4 seconds - longer and you lose 10% of your viewers for every second it goes over 4 seconds (10% can mean the difference between profit and loss for many businesses).

Tip 4:

Spell-check your scripts and make sure your grammar is correct. You won’t get any brownie points for mis-spelled words or bad sentence structure. In order to build trust with your audience you need to look and act professional at all times.

Tip 5:

Stay away from virtual hosting. The cost of quality hosting and professional support is nothing compared to the cost of your site going down or having broken links and not knowing about it.

Just about as bad, is having to pay $80 - $120 per hour for technical support to fix broken links and other problems because your host does not have the skills to provide in-house technical back up of your site, and believe me the best of websites get glitches all the time.

Tip 6:

Talk to your web developer about optimising your key pages for the search engines and how you can add quality out-going and in-coming links to your site. It can be expensive, but for some organisations it will pay off in a big way, particularly if you use professional real-time web tracking to analyse your marketing activity.

Tip 7:

Keep adding informational content to your site. New content keeps your site fresh and interesting for people who re-visit your site…and a big bonus is it stimulates the search engine spiders. When they see fresh content on your site they automatically make a note to return soon and spider the site again. They absolutely crave new informational content.

Tip 8:

Beware of turning your site into an online brochure – viewers get annoyed by online brochures, they may be interesting in print, but they just don’t work online. When a client insists on having brochures on their site, we normally place an icon on the page enabling them to download the brochure in PDF format.

Tip 9:
Make sure there is provision on your site to gather names and email addresses automatically. Building a list of opt-in names of people interested in your products or services, and keeping in regular touch with everyone on your list, will pay HUGE dividends in the medium to longer term. How to Increase Web Site Traffic in Three Steps

Filed under: Life Of Traffic — admin at 10:12 am on Thursday, October 25, 2007

To increase web site traffic, you first need determination, a goal, and a plan of action. Perserverance that comes through a grit your teeth kind of determination is an essential first step towards getting a flood of traffic to your website. Read on to discover how each element comes together to help drive traffic to your website.

Be determined to push through the pain

Learning anything new can be painful. It can also be a wonderful opportunity to explore a whole new world. How you choose to look at it can play a large role on how successful you ultimately become. As you increase web site traffic, a consistent application of your game plan will lead to success. Waiver in your determination to increase web site traffic and you take your eyes off your goal, and become sporadic in applying your action plan. This results in poor web site traffic results.

Have a goal, know where you want to go.

If you don’t have a goal you’re shooting for, how will you know how much effort you will need to exert in order to reach it? Having a specific numbers goal to increase web site traffic will focus your mind on how to achieve it. Just a vague “I want more visitors” will do little towards making your site a success. Don’t just make a goal for number of visitors though. If you are selling a product or service on your site, make sure at least one of your goals is to increase sales. Follow the thought from there to get to our next point…

Develop an action plan to achieve your goal

If you want to increase web site traffic on your site, you will need a plan to get you there. This plan needs to be specific and it needs to be measurable. One of the strengths of the Internet is that you can pretty much measure anything. Use that to your advantage.

When creating an action plan, you start with the goal in mind. Let’s say your goal is to sell 10 widgets in one month on your website. Follow this thought. How can you do that? You obviously want to get people to visit your site. Two main ways to get traffic to your site include Pay per click advertising on search engines and high traffic web sites, and getting high rankings for free on the search engines. From here, you can launch an action plan that will successfully increase web site traffic on your site.

How to Build Web Traffic Daily

I - Introduction
II - Web Directories
III - Search Engines - Rankings
III - Link ahoy!
IV - Messageboards and Forums
V - Conclusion

I - Introduction

The one thing that webmasters wish for is a steady flow of web traffic to their website.

My aim with this article is to give you a few ideas for bringing web traffic to your website. Once your web traffic is up and flowing, what you do with the web traffic is up to you.

First and foremost, web traffic mainly comes from the following areas; in no particular order
1. Web Directories
2. Search Engines
3. Link ahoy!

4. Discussion Boards/Forums

We go into each of these in detail below.

II - Web directories

A web directory is not my favorite medium for building web traffic; but it can be useful to build PR which can help to achieve better rankings in the Google Search Engine. PR (range of 1-10) is one of the factors Google uses to rank its results when someone does a search. Basically, with a higher PR; it is believed that your listing should rank better than those with other PR.

With a quick overview about PR; PR is determined by how many backlinks you have, and the quality of those backlinks. The more backlinks you have from quality websites you have, the higher PR you will generate; and as a result; better rankings.

Thats the beauty about some web directories and link pages. According to how high the PR values are for the webpage where you want to place your link; your webpage PR value would increase. If you could manage to get many links on various PR6 websites for example; your PR value should increase and your rankings should get better and should drive more traffic.

How to find web directories you ask? Its a simple task: All you need to do is to go to www.google.com and type in your keyword and the word directory For example, if the keyword was ‘Cat’, the search term would be ‘Cat directory’ are various Cat directories should come up.

III - Linkahoy!

Ebaumsworld is a very popular website for finding jokes. It currently enjoys over 750, 000 unique visitors a month. Yet, on typing ‘jokes’ and performing a search, ebaumsworld is not present in the top 100 results. How then can Ebaumsworld enjoy so much web traffic a month?

Ebausmsworld mainly achieves this through backlinks. Interestingly enough, on doing a backlink count with Google, Ebaumsworld chalked up 9,550 in backlinks.

Now lets face reality:
Manually creating 9,550 backlinks by manually going to web pages and submitting your link is a very tiring task.

The only way to create so many genuine backlinks is by having GOOD CONTENT.

After studying major websites, I’ve found that they are two great ways of creating this:

1 Media/Downloads
2. Articles

With Ebaumworld.com, their key is loads of media, not necessarily article writing.
Web surfers are attracted to downloads and media in general; It’s a much welcomed difference to all of the text found on web pages.

Once you start to create a number of articles and media/downloads, you will find that persons start to visit your website more regularly to check for more media/downloads; Your web traffic will increase especially when the articles and downloads are really great ones.

The added advantage with articles as well, is that you can post them on other related websites. By doing this, you can create numerous backlinks by including your link at the end of your article.

Search engines love Article content; but we’ll go more into Search Engines in the next section.

IV -Search Engines

Search engines are great for driving web traffic if you can get into about the top 30 results for popular search terms. With Google, rankings depend largely on backlinks and PR.

In addition to these two variables; another variable is Onpage Optimization.

Onpage optimization is basically the editing of your HTML code so that its ideal for placement in search engine results.

This editing may including the editing of meta tags, descriptions, keywords and content realignment.

Quick tips for Onpage optimization for web traffic

1. Use H1 header tags

Make sure that this tag contains your keyword.

2. Use H2 tags.

Largely taken as a subheading, make sure this also contains your main keyword;

3. Evenly spread keywords

Also, with regards to the content, try to make reference to your keyword regularly, but not too often. Try to mention it evenly throughout the document. This is where the article writing from the previous sections comes in handy. With your articles, make sure that

There are numerous other Onpage Optimization tips I can give you, but I go into that more in the Optimization tips article HERE.

V - Discussion Boards/Forums

Discussion forums are a great way to get your message out and generate even more web traffic.

To find these forums use your keyword and the word ‘forums’ with www.google.com

For example, ‘Cat forums’. Make sure that you keep a log of all of them. You’ll want to be making regular posts here.

On registering, try to include your URL and a brief description of your website in your signature. If you make regular posts on the forums, and change signatures every once in a while to reflect what’s going on at your website, you will have a steady stream of visitors.

For example, an example signature could be ‘Catland.com – ‘How to make cats happy’ article just posted 12/34/04’.

On these boards, you will also realize that there are several recurring questions new persons ask.

With reference to the Cats forums; there may be a question which you find reoccurs ‘How should I groom my Cat?’.

If you can create an article to answer each of these questions, you can always post the link to your article everytime a newbie asks question. This will drive fresh users to your website and once your website has in great content; will ensure repeat user and more web traffic.

VI - Conclusion

There are always new ways of finding means of developing web traffic. Offline promotion such as developing business cards can also help. You’ve only just begun your journey! The last thing I want to say is that fresh content ALWAYS brings return vistors; keep adding content; and your visitors will return time after time.

With that said I wish you all the best with your web traffic quest!

Is Reciprocal Linking Dead?

Filed under: Life Of Traffic — admin at 11:07 am on Monday, October 15, 2007

If you have been reading some of the internet forums, the last Google update certainly caused quite a stir, and it has left a lot of people asking the question “Is reciprocal linking Dead?”.

This latest Google update affected a lot of websites that depended on their reciprocal linking strategy to rank high in Google.

If a webmaster wanted to outrank a competing site, They would work out how many links they needed from different websites with a certain PR rating and then commence a reciprocal linking campaign to out rank their competitors.

This strategy was certainly sound and was very effective. But most webmasters would swap links with anybody and everybody, so long as the site had a Google page rank (the higher the better).

Each link swapped was a step toward ranking higher in the search engines and beating out their competitors.

This strategy may have worked in the past when Google was not as smart, but it appears Google has wised up to this strategy. So, it is not surprising that as Google and the other search engines get more sophisticated that the effectiveness of reciprocal linking has diminished as an important factor for ranking well in seach engines.

Which brings us back to the question “Is reciprocal linking dead?”

Instead of asking yourself if reciprocal linking is dead, you should really ask yourself what outcome do you want to achieve with your reciprocal linking strategy.

If reciprocal linking is your only strategy to rank high in the search engines, then you should re-think your strategy because reciprocal linking is not quite dead, but it has taken a big hit.

I have not stopped my reciprocal linking strategies because I am aiming for the following outcomes:

1. To drive traffic to my site from other relevant websites.
2. To add value to my visitors by offering them links to websites that they may be interested in.
3. If I rank higher in the search engines, then this is a bonus.

Before swapping a link with another site I am always mindful that if a visitor sees a link on my site, they correctly assume that I have recommended this website to them, and, if the site I send them to is not relevant or very good, then I loose credibility and a possible return visitor.

Whenever I am going to swap links with another site I always ask myself the following questions:

1. What is the other site about and does it compliment my website?
2. Will my visitors find this site useful to them?
3. What is the quality of the content of the website?

If I think my visitors will find this site useful I then look at the site from the webmasters point of view and ask myself the following questions.

1. How will their visitors find my link? If a visitor cannot find my link then how am I going to get any traffic.
2. Is there a link on their home page (preferably on all their pages) to their links directory?
3. Where is my link going to be placed? Is it more than two clicks away from the home page?
4. Does the website have a sitemap and is the links page included in the site map?

If, and only if the website passes the above criteria will I proceed with a link exchange.

A reciprocal Linking strategy may not be as effective to rank high in the search engines, but it still is an important part of getting targetted traffic to your website if done correctly.

Using Traffic Exchange Programs Part 3

(Continued from Using Traffic Exchange Programs Part 2)

Hello again!

In the last article of the Traffic Exchange trilogy, I will conclude it with a case study on one of my list-building campaigns.

Case Study: My Special Report

==========================

I authored a special report, Starting An Internet Business and planned to give it away for free.

So, the first thing I did after completing the report was setting up a one-page subscription form for people who are interested in my report (at http://www.ebizmodelsyoucancopy.com/report).

I chose to include the word FREE in the headlines so my visitors will know that there is no need for them to draw their credit card out JUST YET *grin*.

Unlike a Killer Sales Letter, I made this letter rather short but precise and concise. I let my visitors know what I have for them in my report.

While it is free, I have also included testimonials from other people who have reviewed my report to encourage them to get it.

If they are interested (they should be, after all it is free), all they had to do was give me their name and e-mail address in exchange for the report.

I will also let them know that they will get newsletters from me on the same subject.

As soon as one-page subscription form is done, I downloaded the Crazy Browser and joined and surf as many Traffic Exchange programs as my connection speed could take.

The credits I earned through surfing will be used to draw visitors to my one-page subscription form. If I have no credits, then my one-page subscription form URL will not appear visible to the surfers.

Through this method, I earn visitors to my one-page subscription form and if they are interested in getting their hands on the report, they will leave their name and e-mail address in exchange for the report.

The opt-in subscribers will download my report and read it at their own pleasure and time. This is a good chance for me to prove my worth and knowledge to them. This method beats leading them straight to my Killer Sales Letters anytime of the century, perhaps even in eons to come.

Since I have also gotten their permission to give regular newsletters, I have also the opportunity to provide tips, information or news when I have any, or even announce to them my latest products or services (as long as I have already built my trust and rapport with them through both the report and newsletters).

To make things better, since my report is free to be given away and I encourage my readers to do so, I also explore the possibilities of viral marketing and creating back-end profits through the content and advertisements in my report alone.

There you have it. A good list-building and marketing concept you can use for your own in your list-building campaign and increasing sales!

On that note, best of wishes in your undertakings as an Internet Business owner!
